What made you decide you wanted to be a photographer?
I must have been around 12 when I decided to become a photographer. It was fascinating to me, how shutter speed and aperture worked together to create an image that I could direct the way it was supposed to look like. I then studied photography in Switzerland for three years, moved to the US to marry my best friend and soon after started my own business.
How would you describe your photography style?
My images are bright, fresh, feminine and filled with light. My style has also been described as slightly vintage inspired – which is awesome as I’m a huge fan of anything vintage 😉
What kind of camera do you shoot with?
What is your favorite lens?
What are a few things you wish you would have known when starting your own business?
I wish I knew more about accounting! Yikes, it’s the worst thing ever…
What do you find is the best way to promote your photography business?
Facebook has been a great source for sharing images with a couples friends and family. It creates referrals without having to do anything other than upload images and linking to your website.
What is your most favorite photo you have ever taken and why?
This image of Natalie & Damian is definitely one of my all time favorites. The moment seems so absolutely perfect and quiet. Light is everywhere and you can almost feel the spark they share. I’m a huge supporter of out-of-focus images, simply because they speak so loudly in a way.
What tip would you give aspiring photographers?
I know you LOVE to shoot. Great! But really, being a photographer means a lot of non-camera related work. Coming up with great business strategy ideas, marketing, communicating with clients.
What is your favorite photography quote?
“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.”
by Ansel Adams
